Based Upon: This film is based upon the classic theme park attraction, The Pirates of the Caribbean, which features singing robotic mannequins. Disney is hoping this could be the first of a series of 'Pirates' movies.

Filming: Production started on October 9th, 2002 (pushed back slightly from the summer of 2002) on sets in Los Angeles, and at locations in the Caribbean Sea. (12/16/02) Filming has wrapped. (3/7/03) According to "The Wall Street Journal", the budget of this movie is in the $125 million budget range.
